Imangi Studios' temple run 2, the highly anticipated sequel to one of 2012's biggest mobile games, set a new record of 50 million iOS, Android, and Kindle downloads in 13 days. It was exclusively released on the App Store late on Jan. 16 and became number one on the game charts overnight with almost instantly six million downloads within 24 hours. And after 22 days, it has beaten the record as the new “fastest growing mobile game” of since angry bird space.

The game was later released on Google Play and the Amazon Marketplace a week later. Considering the 6 million downloads Temple Run 2 earned in just 24 hours as it was released to the iTunes App Store exclusively, one must wonder how many more downloads the game would have had if the Android versions came out at the same time. It is currently the top free app on Google Play, earning 4.5 stars from more than 128,000 reviews and has been downloaded over 170 million times since.

Ever since the release of its first version, temple run remains to be the top and most popular among ios and android games in the market. As of today, the developers at imangi studios have announced that they’ve reached the 50 million app download mark for mobile devices. Meanwhile the original temple run has been announced to have broken 170 million downloads at this point and with the temple run: Brave game also reached the #1 free download spot for a period after its release in the summer of 2012.
